Twenty years ago, Council introduced the 5 Star Food Hygiene Assessment System to assess and rate food safety standards of food premises. Businesses are issued with a certificate to display their star rating, which provides consumers with a measure of how businesses perform, from five stars (excellent) to one star (poor). The scheme encourages best practice through rewarding and recognising businesses that achieve excellence in food safety.
Council is seeking community feedback on a website update that will make the ratings easier to access with more up to date information.
