Box Hill Gardens: Play, Activity and Community Gathering Area

Box Hill Gardens Project

Notification of concept design and opportunity for comment

Council is proposing to install a play, activity and gathering area in the Box Hill Gardens. These works are part of the implementation of the Box Hill Gardens “Once and Future Gardens” 2011 Master Plan.

A Concept Design has been developed with several local schools, and Council is seeking feedback from local community users.

The play space will be developed as a play ribbon offering users an exciting series of experiences across its length. The Community Gathering area will include shelters, social furniture and BBQ facilities.Play Ribbon Poster

The Play Ribbon is consistent with a ‘municipal’ level play space that will cater for local and broader households, as well as visitors to the Box Hill Metropolitan Activity Centre. The play ribbon will replace the two smaller existing play spaces in the gardens. The construction of the new areas will be considered as part of Council’s Capital Works budget considerations.

Please direct any comments regarding the Concept Design to Council’s Open Space Planner, Steve McGrath on 9262 6333, or by email to play@whitehorse.vic.gov.au by Friday 7 April 2017.
