Hard Waste & Bundled Branch Collection
Council provides two hard waste and bundled branch collections each year, usually in summer and winter. A leaflet outlining collection details is sent to households 10 days prior to the collection. They are usually scheduled between January–March and June–August each year.
You can find out when your next hard waste and bundled branch collection date is by using Council's Mapping – GIS Online facility. Accept the terms and conditions of use, then enter your address to find out pick up dates for your area. Alternatively, refer to the
Hard Waste Bundled Branch Collection Summer 2012 (321.91kB).
Council will distribute a leaflet in your letterbox prior to collection notifying you of the dates and describing the material that can be collected. The limit for each property is three cubic metres of waste and bundled branch. Please do not place your waste out earlier then seven days prior to the scheduled collection date.
Please note, collections will only occur on scheduled days.

How Is The Waste Collected
During the Council hard and green waste collection, different trucks collect the waste, as the materials are taken to different processing facilities.
By placing your hard waste into separate piles of scrap metal, timber, other waste and green waste, you can help the recycling collection process.
How To Dispose of Hard and Green Waste Yourself
If you have excess green or hard waste for disposal, you can visit Council's Waste and Recycling Centre, open seven days a week. The centre is located on the corner of Burwood Highway and Morack Road, Vermont South.
Soft green wastes can be sustainably managed by home composting rather than being sent to landfill. Council's optional green waste collection service would also be an ideal means of recycling green wastes. This service encourages sustainable reuse of these green materials and helps reduce the amount of material sent to landfill.
