Home Composting Incentive Program

Council’s Home Composting Incentive Program offers a $30 rebate to residents to make it easier and cheaper to convert their kitchen organics and garden prunings into compost. Residents can apply for the rebate when they buy $100 or more of eligible home composting products from local suppliers within 12 months prior to the claim date. 

Rebate Scheme

Residents can get a $30 rebate when they spend $100 or more on the following retail products:

  • Compost or mulch bin
  • Worm farm
  • Bokashi bucket or starter kit
  • Compost worms (booster boxes)
  • Bokashi mix.

How to Claim for a Rebate

  • Receipts (or copies of receipts) will need to be attached to the pdf icon  Home Composting Rebate Claim Form (163.09kB).
  • Claims can only be made for purchases made within the previous 12 months.
  • All rebate applications must be received by Whitehorse City Council by 14 June 2011. Claims can only be made for purchases made within the previous 12 months.   

Program Terms and Conditions

  • One rebate per household (once you have received a rebate, you are not eligible for a rebate in future years).
  • Rebate to be claimed within 12 months of purchase.
  • Copies of receipts will be accepted.
  • Full terms and conditions are highlighted on the application form in terms of liability and privacy and a specific product disclaimer as per state governments terms and conditions.
  • Residents must complete the rebate application form, mail to the Council and attach relevant receipts to the value of or beyond $100 within the stated time period.
  • Applications will be accepted until 14 June 2012 but purchases must have been made within the previous 12 months.
