Home, Personal & Respite Care

Council can provide a range of services in the home to residents who have been assessed as eligible to receive support. These services are provided through the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program and are funded by federal, state and local government.

The type of tasks to be provided will be discussed and agreed at your assessment.

Home Care

Council support staff will provide you with a range of household support. This may include tasks including vacuuming, mopping, washing and hanging your clothes and bed linen, cleaning your bathroom and toilet. Support to assist you to shop or shopping on your behalf may also be available.

Personal Care

Council support staff will provide support and assistance to shower, wash and toilet, to dress, brush hair and other grooming activities. We can also assist to put on support stockings.

Following assessment, our nurse may visit you and together you may develop a plan that will best meet your personal care needs.

Respite Care

This service provides carers the opportunity to take a break from their caring role. Respite services are available to carers of older persons and people with a disability.

Families of children or young adults with a disability can also use respite services to assist them in their caring role. This service is provided in the home but arrangements may be made to provide out of home respite following discussion with an assessment officer.
