Council’s Parenting Information Forum in May will offer advice on how to build positive self-esteem and resilience in children.
Whitehorse Councillor Andrew Davenport said Council’s popular, annual series of parenting forums were designed for parents, grandparents and carers to gain insights from experts in parenting and education across a range of topics.
“Raising healthy, happy, resilient children is no easy achievement and at times we need all the help and expert advice we can get! Building resilience and self-esteem in our children is essential to their success and sense of self throughout life,” Cr Davenport said.
Presenter Sally Ward will discuss how resilience is not about being positive and happy all of the time but does help us to take on life’s challenges, and to have some independence and confidence as we proceed through life.
Sally is an early childhood consultant with education consultancy Early Life Foundations. She is a preschool teacher with 35 years experience in the early childhood field.
