Vertical gardens a great way to grow

18 May 2017

Council’s next free Smarter Living Session is ‘Vertical gardens – insights from the field’, a talk by green infrastructure experts from Melbourne company Do it on the Roof.

Whitehorse Councillor Raylene Carr said this session would offer participants a great look at the green-wall systems available and offer tips to get them started with this useful and beautiful form of gardening.

“The presenters will also explore some of the factors to consider when installing vertical gardens, such as irrigation, substrate choice and plant selection. Vertical gardens offer many benefits, such as maximising limited space, making plants easier to reach and nurture, and softening stark structures, such as a brick wall,” Cr Carr said.

This is a joint presentation between Whitehorse and Manningham City Councils.

When: Wednesday 31 May, 7pm–9pm
Where: Manningham Civic Centre, Function Room, 699 Doncaster Road, Doncaster
