28 Sep 2017

The Whitehorse Business Safety and Security Expo will showcase products and best practice to promote business safety and security on Tuesday 31 October.
Whitehorse Councillor Tina Liu said the expo was aimed at small to medium businesses, including franchisees.

“The expo is a fantastic idea full of local knowledge for local businesses. Learn from the experts how to protect your business, premises, staff and customers from crime,” Cr Liu said.

“Victoria Police and Council encourage all business owners to take the time to attend the Whitehorse Business Safety and Security Expo as we strive as a community to reduce the impact of crime on business, employees, customers and the broader community.”

Presented by Council and Victoria Police, the expo includes a light dinner. Participants can exhibit a safety or security-related product or come and have a look and listen to guest speakers.

“The line-up of informative speakers includes Detective Sergeant Scott Dwyer from the Eastern Region Crime Squad, who was recently awarded the prestigious Mick Miller Detective of the Year Award for his work,” Cr Liu said.

Crime author and journalist John Silvester will also appear. He has written or co-authored several crime books including of course, the best-selling Underbelly series.

Participants will learn about workplace procedures and everyday business management practices covering issues from cash handling, internet ordering and more aggressive crimes.
