Join an open day at Whitehorse Early Learning Services

12 Apr 2018

Come along and explore all that Whitehorse Early Learning Services (WELS) has to offer at open days during May.

Whitehorse Mayor Councillor Andrew Davenport said WELS offered four council-operated long day care centres for children aged from six weeks to 5 years and each centre incorporated a state-funded kindergarten program.

“These open days are the perfect chance to get a feel for your local centre. Visitors will be able to talk to staff, see facilities and get an idea of the wonderful curriculum the centres follow for each age group,” Cr Davenport said.

“The WELS’ learning environments provide a relaxed, unhurried learning day where children enjoy a variety of experiences. Collaboration with families is important and our teachers and educators make time for quality interactions with children and families.”

The flexible, play-rich kindergarten program at each centre is designed around children’s interests, developmental needs, family contributions, and the National and State Learning Frameworks. Each kindergarten program is taught by a teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood).

The kindergarten program incorporates additional hours before and after sessions for those families needing extended hours of education and care.
