Mountain View Cottage
Mountain View Cottage, is located at 25 Mountain View Road, Nunawading. The cottage is home to Council’s assisted transport service, social support program and planned activity groups.
Planned activity groups provide out of home respite for clients who are assessed as eligible under Home and Community Care (HCC) guidelines. The activities are as varied as the participants. The cottage runs an Indo-Chinese Group, who enjoy conversation and gentle exercise. The cottage also runs craft activities, a Fab Movers program (more gentle exercise) and meditation and ballroom dancing classes. The cottage has an outdoor area that, when complete, will have built in seating and raised garden beds to allow participants to grow herbs and vegetables for use in programs.
Clients can be picked up from home by Council’s assisted transport service and returned home at the end of the program. A nutritious three course meal is also provided.
The cottage’s social support program includes activities such as full day trips to different locales, such as Phillip Island and trips to exhibitions at the Melbourne Museum.
The assisted transport service also provides limited transport to medical appointments or shopping trips – clients must be assessed as eligible.
