Public Information
The Local Government Act 1989 specifies that councils make certain information available to the public including Freedom of Information requests, councillor expenses and travel, and agendas and minutes of Council meetings.
The Local Government Act 1989 also specifies that Council must publish public notices on its website.
Documents for Public Inspection
The Local Government Act and associated regulations require that certain documents be made available for public inspection upon request.
Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI) gives people a right to obtain information held by ministers, state government departments, local councils, most semi-government agencies and statutory authorities, public hospitals and community health centres, universities, TAFE colleges and schools.
Public Notices
The Local Government Act 1989 specifies that Council must publish all public notices on its website.
