    Whitehorse Road Closure for Chinese New Year Festival

    ROAD CLOSURE
     
    Whitehorse Road Westbound lane closure between Station Street and Nelson Road, Box Hill, from 5am Saturday 11 February to 6am Sunday 12 February 2017.

    The road closure is in place for the Chinese New Year Festival that runs from 12 noon – midnight Saturday 11 February 2017. Traffic signs will indicate detour routes during the closure.
     
    Motorists are advised to follow the Dorking Street detour and to avoid STATION STREET/WHITEHORSE ROAD if possible.

    Review and Proposed Setting of Mayoral and Councillors' Allowances

    NOTICE  IS  HEREBY  GIVEN  that the Council of the City of Whitehorse has undertaken a review of  the  Mayoral and Councillors' allowances as reQuired by the Local Government Act.

    In accordance with Council's proposed 2017/ 18 Budget and pursuant to Section 74 (1) and (3) of the Local Government Act 1989 and the Order in Council made on 15 December 2016, Council intends to set allowances for Councillors and the Mayor for the  Financial years 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021  to  be  $29,630  per Councillor per annum and for the Mayor at $94,641 per annum monthly in advance. (subject to further State Government changes).

    In accordance with Section 74 (4) and Section 223 of the Local Government Act a person has a right to make a submission in respect of the review of the proposed allowances.

    Any person wishing to make a written submissioni' pursuant to section 223 to the Local Government Act 1989. on the Allowances must lodge a submission before 5 pm on Tuesday 7 March 2017.

    Submissions should be addressed to The Chief Executive Officer, City of Whitehorse. Locked Bag 2, Nunawading Delivery Centre 3110 in envelopes marked "Mayoral and Councillors' Allowances Submission". Submitters will be identified in a public report to Council on submissions received in regard to this matter and this information will become part  of the public record. If you do not wish to be identified. Please indicate this in your submiss1on.

    Any submissions will  be considered and if required  heard at the Special Committee of Council to be held on Tuesday 14 March 2017 commencing at 8 pm in the Council Chamber Whitehorse Civic Centre 379 Whitehorse Road] Nunawading. A person who has odged a written submission by the required date may request to be heard in support of their submission. or appoint a person to appear on their behalf. before the Special Committee to hear such submissions . Please indicate in your submission if you wish to speak to your submission or if you wish another person to speak on your behalf.

    Council will meet to consider and resolve on the proposed Mayoral and Councillors allowances at its Ordinary Council meeting to be held on  Monday 20  March  2017 commencing at 7pm in the Council Chamber, Whitehorse Civic Centre, 37!:1 Whitehorse Road.    Nunawading. Any person requiring  further information concerning the proposed allowances or the making of a written  submission   should   contact the Manager Civic Services. Mr A.     Proposed Road Discontinuance in Surrey Hills

    Whitehorse City Council (Council), acting under section 206 and schedule 10 clause 3 of the Local Government Act 1989 (“the Act”), proposes to discontinue the 3.05m wide road adjoining 23 and 25 Bentley Street and at the rear of 32 Erasmus Street, Surrey Hills.

    If discontinued, Council proposes to sell the land from the road by private treaty to the abutting property owners.

    Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposal must do so in writing to the undersigned. Council must receive submissions no later than Friday 23 December 2016.

    All submissions will be considered in accordance with section 223 of the Act.

    Any person making a written submission and requesting to be heard in support of their written submission is entitled to appear in person, or may be represented by a person acting on their behalf, before a Committee of Council on Monday 13 February 2017 at 8 pm at the Council Chamber, Nunawading Civic Centre, 379-397 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading.

    Following the consideration of any submissions, Council may decide to discontinue the road, part of the road, or not to discontinue the road.

    Any person making a written submission under section 223 of the Act is advised that all submissions and personal information in the submission will be handled by Council in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014.

    Whitehorse City Council has prepared Amendment C192 to the Whitehorse Planning Scheme.
    The land affected by the Amendment is land at 119 Surrey Road and 150–152B Springfield Road, Blackburn.

    The Amendment proposes to:

    Amendment C181

    The Minister for Planning has approved Amendment C181 to the Whitehorse Planning Scheme.
    The amendment comes into operation on the date this notice is published in the Government Gazette.
    The amendment implements recommendations from the City of Whitehorse Significant Tree Study 2016 by inserting Schedule 5 to Clause 42.02 Vegetation Protection Overlay (VPO5) into the Whitehorse Planning Scheme and applying the VPO5 to 27 properties in the municipality.
    A copy of the amendment can be inspected, free of charge, at the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning website at www.delwp.vic.gov.au/public-inspection and free of charge, during office hours, at the offices of the Whitehorse City Council, 379 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading.

    Council Meeting to consider the 2015/16 Annual Report

    Council has prepared and Annual Report for the financial year ended 30 June 2016.

    The Annual Report contains:

    A Report of Operations, audited Financial Statements, audited Performance Statement and the independent Auditor's Reports for the Financial Statements and Performance Statement.

    Pursuant to Section 134 of the Local Government Act 1989, the Annual Report will be discussed by Council at its meeting commencing 7pm on 17 October 2016 in the council chamber, Whitehorse Civic Centre, 379-397 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading.

    Pursuant to Section 131 and 134 of the Local Government Act 1989, copies of the annual Report are available for inspection at the Whitehorse Civic Centre, 379-397 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading between 9am - 5pm.
