Renew Collection

The Renew collection and drop off day are one-off events in May each year. They offer an opportunity to recycle unwanted but useable household goods that might otherwise have ended up in landfill.

This year’s Renew collection fortnight:
Tuesday 30 April to Saturday 11 May 2019

How to use the service

Simply place bags of unwanted but useable household goods into your empty recycling bin immediately after your normal recycling has been collected. Then push the bin straight back onto the kerb for the special Renew Collection the next day.

Prepare in advance by finding unwanted items, such as textiles, household goods, small electronic items and sporting equipment, and sorting them into product groups. Each group of items should be packed into separate plastic bags to ensure they stay clean.

Register online to receive email or sms reminders.

Why provide these services?

Council is committed to waste reduction and is working with partners like SCR to expand opportunities to easily reuse and recycle items.

Textile and electronic waste (e-waste), are two of the fastest growing waste streams in Melbourne. Textile waste makes up approximately 4% of waste sent to landfill throughout Melbourne. Services like this provide better options to our community.

Electronic waste is a growing concern and this service provides an alternate option to landfill in preparation for the State Government’s ban of e-waste to landfill which will come into effect on 1 July 2019.
