Grandparents looking after their grandchildren in Whitehorse are invited to join a community-run grandparents playgroup.
Whitehorse councillor Raylene Carr said Whitehorse had more than 30 playgroups across the municipality, with two groups aimed specifically at grandparents.
“Playgroups offer families with young children fun and interactive activities in a safe and supportive environment. It’s a great way for children to socialise and get the skills that comes with that. Most playgroups provide a time for free play, structured activities and a snack time for children and carers,” Cr Carr said.
“The groups are a great way for adults, including grandparents, to meet others similarly caring for children and to get a chance to chat over a cuppa. Playgroups are also a good source of information about caring for children and about local community, health and support services.”
