Council is offering four bicycle skills courses during March and April for Whitehorse residents to improve riding skills and gain confidence.
Whitehorse Councillor Blair Barker said the courses for children and adults were always a popular part of Council’s annual road safety program.
“There are courses for kids on school holidays and ones for adults with basic skills and more advanced skills. Cycling is a fabulous leisure pursuit and can be done solo, or with family or friends, and having the knowledge to ride safely is very important,” Cr Barker said.
“This is a great chance to join a group of riders of a similar standard to yourself and get the most out of your bike.”
For all courses, participants will need to bring a bike in roadworthy condition and a helmet. All courses are run by AustCycle accredited instructors from Bikes@Work.
Novice Course for Adults
There are two time slots offered. This course runs for 2.5 hours and is perfect for those who lack confidence on a bike, or those that are relatively new to riding, or haven't ridden in many years. This course covers the correct riding technique and essential bike handling skills. It is conducted in a traffic-free area.
