The annual Swing Pop Boom! series opens on Friday 9 March with a Moonlight Movie Night showing the charming family film, Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson.
Whitehorse Mayor, Councillor Andrew Davenport said the free Swing Pop Boom! series of events will run during March and April and includes two moonlight movie nights with live music, and one dance-filled day out with Shake at the Lake.
“Whitehorse’s superb open air venues are showcased in this wonderful series of events, where audiences can enjoy some of the beautiful bushland settings from across the municipality,” Cr Davenport said.
“Swing Pop Boom! is part of the Whitehorse Festival Season and a perfect way to enjoy autumn days and nights.”
Moonlight Movie Night: Beauty and the Beast
When: Friday 9 March, 7pm-10pm
Where: Gardiners Creek Reserve, Burwood. Pedestrian entry via Stott Street.
Experience a tale as old as time as we screen the new Beauty and the Beast featuring Emma Watson. Relax and enjoy pre-show entertainment at 7pm before the feature film begins at 8pm. Snacks will be available.
Shake at the Lake
When: Sunday 25 March, 2pm-5pm
Where: Blackburn Lake Sanctuary, Blackburn.
Featuring swing, jazz and Irish music there is something for everyone. The Georgia Brooks Swingtet will delight with swing classics, while the Rogues will get toes tapping with contemporary and classic Irish songs. Snacks and face painting will be available.
Moonlight Movie Night: Despicable Me 3
When: Friday 6 April, 6pm-9pm
Where: Morack Golf Course, Vermont South.
Pack the popcorn and enjoy a family night under the stars in Vermont South. See Gru and his minions in their new adventure Despicable Me 3. Pre-show entertainment at 6pm before the feature film begins at 7pm. Snacks will be available.
