Street & Laneway Cleaning

Street SweepingCouncil cleans main roads, residential streets, laneways and footpaths within shopping centres to ensure that Whitehorse’s streets are clean and safe.

Street Sweeping

Council's autumn street sweeping program runs from April until July. The municipality's 135 streets with heavy leaf falls are swept at least once every fortnight and other streets are swept once every four weeks.

For the 2012 season, sweeping will occur on the weeks starting 2, 16 and 30 April; 14 and 28 May; 11 and 25 June; and 9 and 23 July.

The sweepers will start in Mont Albert in the city’s north-western corner and progressively move through to the south-eastern section ending in Vermont South. This will incorporate the 135 leafy streets and take about one week to complete.

Residents are encouraged to park their vehicles on their properties during the heavy leaf sweeping cycle to assist with the cleaning of their streets.

During the other seasons, all streets are swept once every three weeks. To find out more about the street sweeping program, phone Council on 9262 6200.
