Whitehorse City Council

Street & Laneway Cleaning

Council cleans main roads, residential streets, laneways and footpaths within shopping centres to ensure that Whitehorse's streets are clean and safe.

Autumn Heavy Leaf Program

Street Sweeping

Council's autumn street sweeping program runs from April until July. The municipality's 135 streets with heavy leaf falls are swept at least once every fortnight and other streets are swept once every four weeks (dependant on leaf volume and weather conditions).

The street sweeping program will begin on the first Monday in April and all leaf streets will be swept on a fortnightly schedule. All other residential non-heavy leaf streets will be swept on a four week schedule until the season ends in July.

Residents living in Whitehorse's 135 heavy leaf streets will receive information from Council in their letterboxes detailing the autumn street sweeping schedule for their particular street.

Autumn heavy leaf program is scheduled for the weeks commencing:
1 April, 15 April, 29 April, 13 May, 27 May, 10 June, 24 June, 8 July, 22 July

Residents are encouraged to park their vehicles on their properties during the heavy left sweeping cycle to assist with the cleaning of their streets. The sweeping is to collect leaves and debris from Council streets and not from private properties.

During the other seasons, all streets are swept once every three weeks. To find out more about the street sweeping program, phone Council on 9262 6200.
