Sustainable Design Assessment
A Sustainable Design Assessment (SDA) is required for medium developments, comprising of three to nine residential dwellings or 500m2 to 1000m2 of non-residential Gross Floor Area (GFA). An SDA can be prepared by either of the two methods listed below:
1. Rating Tool Assisted
Two free web-based tools are recommended by Council to assist in the preparation of your SDA:
These tools are easy and free to use and ensure that your application addresses each of the required categories. An SDA can be submitted by enclosing the printout of the STEPS or SDS report with your planning application.
2. Manual Templates
Alternatively, you can manually prepare your own Sustainable Design Assessment using the downloadable template documents provided below:
Please note: where applicable, please ensure that ESD features outlined in the SDA are clearly annotated on your architectural plans.
