Calling all Whitehorse based artists, performers, community groups, organisations and educational institutions. Do you have a creative idea to activate Box Hill Mall?
This Space, Your Place is a community placemaking initiative. Council has four cash grants up to $10,000 for Whitehorse based artists, performers, groups, organisations, schools and educational institutions, to produce an exciting, innovative and creative placemaking concept within the Box Hill Mall. There are four grants available, and you can apply for a youth grant (for youth service groups or applicants up to 24 years old) or general grant.
Council is looking for unique, artistic and collaborative projects that have not been produced in the City of Whitehorse before.
Applications open on Monday 5 November and close at midnight on Sunday 9 December.
Activities will be scheduled between January and June 2019 and must take place on Market Street or Main Street, in Box Hill Mall. A site visit is mandatory prior to submitting your application, to ensure there is a suitable location within the mall for your proposed placemaking activity.
For more information, eligibility criteria and full project details read the Terms and Conditions (302.67kB). Applicants must read the Terms and Conditions prior to submitting their application.
Placemaking is the process of creating public spaces that bring people together and reflect the local community – public art, pop-up playgrounds, a sculpture maze, urban greening, drop-in yoga sessions – these activations may last a day, a week or month and will create vibrancy and bring people together.
Need some inspiration? Council has created a placemaking guide called People making Places in Whitehorse (19.28MB). Applicants must read this document and complete ‘Project Plan Part A – From Idea to Action’ document as part of their application.
