Whitegoods, Scrap Metal and Electronic Waste Collection
Residents can use Council’s 'ring and book’ collection service for whitegoods, scrap metal and electronic waste.
Collections occur on the first Monday of each month and are just for residents who book beforehand. The collected materials will be recycled where possible, especially scrap metal and whitegoods.
The normal hard waste and bundled branch collection will continue twice a year as usual around January to March and June to August.
To arrange collection:
- Check that your materials are eligible for collection, as listed below
- Call Council on 9262 6333 to book your collection and describe the size, number and type of items that you wish to discard
- Only place your materials out for collection on the weekend before the scheduled booked collection date
- Place your items in a neat pile on the naturestrip, clear of the footpath
- Place the orange ‘Booked’ sticker provided by Council on one of the items so it can clearly be seen from the road
- Please note that two people must be able to lift the items
Items that will be collected include:
- Whitegoods such as fridges, freezers, stoves, washing machines, dryers, ovens and hot water systems
- Metal items such as bicycle frames, car parts, guttering and aluminium window frames
- Electronic items such as TVs, computers, monitors and VCRs
- Small scrap metal items will only be collected if there are larger items from the list above that are also booked for collection
- Other small items that can be added to larger items for collection include empty paint tins (lids removed), metal car parts and mowers empty of petrol and oil
Items that won’t be collected include:
- Garden waste, household recyclables, domestic garbage (Council has regular bin-based collections for the above items. Alternatively, these items can be taken to Council’s Recycling and Waste Centre, but charges apply)
- Chemical containers
- Building or demolition materials
- Glass/mirrors
- Items that can’t be lifted by two people
