Whitehorse Youth Representative Committee (WYRC)

The  Whitehorse Youth Representative Committee (WYRC) is made up of young people who live, work or study in the City of Whitehorse. A new WYRC is formed each year to act as a voice for young people and to assist Council with youth issues. The WYRC is involved with a number of events throughout the year such as Youth Week.

Whitehorse Youth Representative Committee for 2012

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Are you aged between 16–24 years? Become a part of the Whitehorse Youth Representative Committee (WYRC). Learn new skills around leadership, event management and hang out with other young people who are keen to get stuff happening in their community.

The WYRC is also a way for Council to gain more of an understanding about the needs of young people. The WYRC and its members are highly valued by Council and is viewed as a really important tool for bridging the gap between young people and local government.

Training
The members of WYRC are given an opportunity to further develop their skills in areas such as leadership, event management, public speaking and community participation through training, camps and team building days.

WYRC Goal Statement
To represent the interests of young people in the City of Whitehorse through active membership in the WYRC and ongoing development of leadership/ event management skills.

How do you get involved in the WYRC?
Interviews for positions within the committee will take place from early January through to early March. If you are interested you can contact Jacqueline Piper on 9898 9340 or jacqueline.piper@whitehorse.vic.gov.au to arrange an interview time.
