With the population of Whitehorse projected to grow to 195,000 by 2027, an increase of 13 per cent, the amount of waste we generate is also set to increase to almost 150,000 tonnes a year. That’s about 1.3 tonnes for every resident.
The current Whitehorse Waste Management Plan (2011) will expire this year and so we have kicked off the process of developing a new strategy to reduce waste and manage costs.
We want your input as we declare war on waste. If you have an idea about how we can better deal with litter and dumped rubbish, or best manage food and garden waste, we want to hear from you.
As part of our efforts to get input from as many people in the community as possible, in the coming weeks we are launching a new online engagement hub where you will be able to have your say on how we can better manage waste in Whitehorse.
If you’d like us to let you know when the online hub is up and running, or you would like to stay informed about the project, please provide your contact details below.
In the meantime, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
