Walk to School 2018

Whitehorse City Council is supporting local primary schools to get involved with VicHealth’s Walk to School program, which encourages children to walk to and from school as often as possible throughout October.

Walking to school helps children stay healthy and active, and has other benefits such as reducing traffic and parking congestion. Children who live too far from school to walk the entire way can still participate by being driven or using public transport part way and walking the rest of the way. Other at-school options  are also possible as an alternative to participate.

Last year Victorian students walked 1.6 million kilometres, the equivalent of walking around Australia 112 times or two return trips to the moon.
