Make Your Own Bee Hotel

This event is part of the Sustainable Living Week 2020

Learn how to create magical, miniature buildings for your local, native insects to call home! We'll use recycled and found materials to build our constructions, then decorate them with brightly coloured paint to finish the masterpieces with creativity and flair. 

Please find a list of materials required to get creative and make your very own bee hotel.


  • Empty tin can (eg 400gm tomatoes)
  • Bamboo, rolled bark, or dowel with a hole drilled in it
  • Straw or dried grass (now lawn clippings)
  • Gum nuts, pine cones, twigs
  • Large leaves
  • Clay
  • String
  • Paint (optional)

Tools required: Scissors
