Whitehorse City Council’s Harrow Street Car Park has been recognised as a finalist in the category of Outstanding New Car Park at the 2019 Parking Industry Awards.
The five-level Harrow Street Car Park includes 562 car parking bays including nine accessible parking bays, 12 bicycle racks, 12 motorcycle spaces, 4 electric vehicle charging stations (located on the lower ground level) and CCTV cameras throughout and provides a net increase of 271 parking spaces in Box Hill.
Whitehorse Mayor, Councillor Sharon Ellis congratulated the teams involved in the project.
“Whitehorse City Council’s Major Projects team, in conjunction with the assigned architects, designed a car park that’s highly functional in its use of space yet understated in its visual presence through clever integration with the environmental surrounds,” Cr Ellis said.
The prestigious Parking Industry Awards celebrates the achievements of individuals, teams and organisations for excellence, outstanding facilities and innovation throughout the parking industry.
The Awards aim to highlight the industry’s commitment to raising the standards of the parking industry, through showcasing best practice and rewarding exceptional contributions.
“The calibre of entries demonstrates the leadership and commitment of the industry to innovate and provide the best possible parking experience for their customers”, said Sharon Prior, President of Parking Australia.
Entries to the 2019 Parking Industry Awards were judged by a panel of seven national and international industry professionals, who have selected 30 finalists across 7 categories.
The award winners will be announced at a Parking Industry Awards Dinner on Thursday 28 November.
