Whitehorse City Council has implemented the shut-down of the various facilities announced by the Prime Minister. A full list of services and how they are affected is being maintained Whitehorse City Council events, services and facilities update page.

However, Council is an essential service and is continuing. Council will to continue provide essential services to the Whitehorse community, including Meals on Wheels, waste collection and childhood immunisation. We are providing city hygiene, parks maintenance, footpath maintenance, graffiti cleaning and a whole range of other services.

Whitehorse Mayor, Cr Sharon Ellis said “Council will continue to perform our role in keeping our community safe and healthy. Our officers will continue to ensure food safety, maintain hygiene in public facilities and monitor the safety of our physical assets.

Council will maintain good governance, strong leadership and effective customer services. We will ensure that Council can continue to be responsive to the changing needs of our community in this difficult time.”

Some of our staff will work from home – but they will continue to provide good financial management, paying invoices to businesses Council has engaged, assessing planning and building applications, reporting, answering calls, responding to your enquiries and working to their usual high standards.

Our priority is the health and safety of our community and staff.

Council will play its part in implementing the measures that will slow the spread of the virus.
