Community Update – 10 June 2021

Published: Thursday 10 Jun 2021

The Acting Premier has announced easing of restrictions from this evening at 11:59pm, Thursday 10 June 2021. The five reasons to leave home no longer apply, but there are still restrictions in place. Information in this email applies to metro Melbourne. Different restrictions will apply in regional Victoria.

Intrastate travel

The travel limit will be expanded to 25km from home, except for work, study, essential goods and services not available within your 25km radius, care and compassionate reasons and to receive COVID-19 vaccination.

Schools and Social

Students from all year levels can return to school from Friday.

We cannot have visitors to our home, but outdoor public gatherings are allowed for up to 10 people.

Face masks mandatory indoors and outdoors

You must wear a face mask at all times when outside your home, unless you have an exemption or are under 12. This applies indoors and outdoors.

QR check-in for entertainment, retail and all workplaces

With cafes, restaurants and pubs and other retail reopening, businesses that are required to use electronic record keeping must use the free Service Victoria app for QR code check-ins. As customers, it is mandatory to check in using this QR code or on a pen-and-paper alternative supplied when visiting these outlets and retail places. All workplaces will also shortly be required to use the app for staff check-ins.

Please comply when asked to check in. You are helping us to #StaySafeandStayOpen.

More support for Victorians in need

The Victorian Government is making sure no Victorian is left behind, providing a dedicated boost to hardship payments and emergency food relief for our state’s most vulnerable.

The Government has announced an additional $30 million package to ensure this critical help – including food and financial support – is made available to communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. More information on support payments can be found below:

Impact on Council services

Our essential services will continue uninterrupted. We can open some facilities in line with the easing of restrictions, but some others remain closed. Libraries, Youth Connexions, community halls and our Customer Service centres will re-open, subject to density limits and patron limits. Our Waste and Recycling Centre will re-open to the general public, but there may be high demand so please be patient if you need to queue.

Indoor sports and leisure facilities remain closed. Check our facility closures page to stay up to date.

You can still reach us via Council’s website, phone on 9262 6333 or email at customer.service@whitehorse.vic.gov.au
