Community Update – 17 June 2021

Published: Thursday 17 Jun 2021

Dear Residents,

The Acting Premier has announced further easing of restrictions from this evening at 11:59pm, Thursday 17 June 2021. The 25km travel limit will be removed and travel between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria may resume

Please note that the below changes to restrictions apply to metro Melbourne.

Face masks mandatory indoors

You must wear a face mask indoors, except when at home or if an exception applies. You must also carry a face mask when outside your home and wear it when you cannot maintain social distancing.

Social

Private gatherings at home allowed for up to 2 adults per day (plus dependants of visiting adults). Public gatherings outdoors permitted for up to 20 people.

Snow holiday

With winter school holiday approaching, Melbourne residents wanting to go on a snow holiday must have a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours before departing for Victoria's alpine resorts.

Sports, recreation and community facilities

Gyms and indoor sports facilities can open across Melbourne, with density limits and COVIDSafe plans in place. This includes Council’s Aqualink and Sportlink centres. Community sports can resume, but check for details with your local clubs.

Various community facilities can open with slightly increased venue caps. Our Whitehorse Manningham Libraries will open to more visitors, but will continue to provide their programs online for at least one more week.

Support for Victorians in need

There are a variety of services available in our community to help you and your family get through these challenging times. This includes food, financial and crisis support.

Please consider these services for assistance if required.

Impact on Council services

Council is able to re-open more facilities. Our Aqualink and Sportlink facilities are re-opening, though there are significant restrictions on group size and venue capacity. This means bookings are essential.

Schwerkolt Cottage and Museum Complex will re-open this weekend for usual opening hours, and is well worth a visit if you’ve never been. If the weather is OK, it’s a lovely spot for a picnic and walk through Yarran Dheran Nature Reserve.

Artspace will open next Tuesday at Box Hill Town Hall. It’s another great local option. Entry is free and you could combine it with lunch in a local restaurant or café, who’ve been experiencing very tough trading conditions.

Check our facility closures page to stay up to date with full details of opening.

You can still reach us via Council’s website, phone on 9262 6333 or email at customer.service@whitehorse.vic.gov.au

What hasn't changed

If you can work from home, you should continue to work from home. Get vaccinated if you are eligible. If you have visited anexposure site or have even mild symptoms, get tested, and stay at home while waiting for the results. Check in using the free Service Victoria app when visiting public and retail places.

For information about coronavirus or to find your nearest testing site, visit coronavirus.vic.gov.au or call 1800 675 398.
