The Premier has announced further easing of COVID restrictions, based on expert public health advice and our low rates of transmission.
The five-kilometre limit for exercise and shopping has been extended to 25 kilometres, and there are online tools to show what’s within 25km of your home or workplace. The two-hour time limit for exercise and socialising has been lifted.
Impact on Council services and facilities
Outdoor sports settings like tennis courts, golf courses and skate parks will be able to reopen as soon as it is safe and practical to do so. For detailed information on Council services, check the Services and Facilities update page of our website.
Limits on outdoor pools have increased from 20 to 30 swimmers, so we will have a bit more capacity at Aqualink Box Hill’s outdoor pool. Members can book through the online member portal and casual swimmers can book by phone.
Groups of up to ten people from two households can gather in outdoor public places. That could be for exercise – or a picnic in the park.
Our parks our receiving very heavy use. We’ve updated our Council bin collection schedule according to park usage, so if a bin is full we’ll be along shortly to empty it. In the meantime, please take your rubbish home and don’t leave rubbish on the ground outside the bins.
Many of our staff are working from home to continue providing a wide range of Council services. You can still reach us through our website or on 9262 6333.
We recently sent out rates notices for 2020/21. Lump sum payments are due on 15 February 2021. However, payment by instalments is also possible and the due date for the first instalment has been extended to 21 October 2020. The due dates for second and subsequent instalments have not changed. Information on our Relief and Support package is on our website.
What hasn’t changed?
Staying safe is more important than ever. So please, keep wearing a mask, keep maintaining your distance – and if you feel sick, get tested and stay home while waiting for results.
