Community Update - 26 March 2021

Published: Friday 26 Mar 2021

From 6pm Friday 26 March, Victoria will further relax its COVIDSafe settings to allow more visitors in the home and reduce mask wearing.

Face masks

Face masks will no longer be required in retail settings. Victorians will still need to carry one with them at all times and wear it on public transport, in rideshare vehicles and taxis and in sensitive settings such as aged care facilities and hospitals.

Victorians will be able to host up to 100 people in their home per day (infants under 12 months old not included in the cap). Outdoor gatherings in public places – the beach, the park – can also increase to 200 people.

Impact on Council services

Our Customer Service centres at the Civic Centre, Box Hill Town Hall and Forest Hill are operating as usual. You can also contact us via Council’s website, phone on 9262 633 or email at

If you're planning on booking a group tour at Schwerkolt Cottage, we still need to take the space restrictions and density limits into consideration. Visit Schwerkolt Cottage webpage for details.

What hasn’t changed?

We must continue to maintain 1.5m physical distance and good hand hygiene, and remember to carry our face masks.

If we have even mild symptoms, we should get tested, and stay at home while waiting for the results.

When visiting businesses, cafes, cinemas, gyms, community centres or places of worship, remember to use the QR codes to check in or leave your details with pen and paper.

For information about coronavirus or to find your nearest testing site, visit or call 1800 675 398.
