Community Update - 3 April 2020

Published: Friday 03 Apr 2020

Council is working hard to support our local businesses through these challenging times. We recognise the impact COVID-19 is having on our economy, with many businesses forced to lay off staff or close their doors.

We are working to support businesses, including ways they can access State and Federal Government support. Our Whitehorse business website Wbiz contains a wealth of information for business. If you have specific queries or need advice, get in touch with our investment and economic development team - visit www.wbiz.com.au, call 9262 633 or email business@whitehorse.vic.gov.au

We have applied to the Victorian Government under the $500m Working for Victoria program to bring more jobs to Whitehorse. We have applied for funds to help with essential services such as extra cleaning and extra support for our most vulnerable residents.

It is important to do what we can to support our local businesses who are still operating but have changed how they operate. Many of our restaurants and cafes are now offering takeaway and home delivery. Beauty salons who have had to close have set up online stores and are offering home delivery of their products. For a list of businesses operating and their services or if you are a business and want to promote your services, visit supportlocalwhitehorse.com.au
