We are very pleased that Victoria has seen 10 consecutive days of zero new cases and zero new deaths.
The Premier has announced further easing of COVID restrictions, based on expert public health advice and our low rates of transmission.
Changes to how we live
From today, the 25km limit no longer applies. The boundary between regional Victoria and Melbourne has come down. We can still only have two adults (and dependants) visit our homes per day, but they don’t need to be from the same household.
Restrictions on visits to hospitals and aged care facilities have eased, though individual facilities may have their own arrangements that need to be followed.
Impact on Council services and facilities
Morack Public Golf Course and Driving Range are open, along with our skate park, outdoor tennis courts and bowling greens. Cricketers from local clubs are enjoying a safe, gradual return to community sport. You may have seen them already enjoying the pitches that our Parkswide officers have been preparing for summer use.
Aqualink Box Hill and Aqualink Nunawading are open for indoor gym, group fitness and indoor swimming. All sessions must be pre-booked, and both casual users and members can book their session online. Bookings can be made by phone but high call volumes may result in delays. Online bookings are encouraged.
Sportlink is open for court and casual hoops bookings for people 18 and younger.
Whitehorse Manningham Libraries have reopened for up to 10 visitors for 30 minutes for browsing, borrowing, enquiries, printing and computer use. Modified opening hours will be in place. Try to plan ahead and reserve items before visiting.
Our parks are still experiencing very heavy use. We’ve increased bin sizes, number of bins and frequency of waste collections. If a bin is full we’ll be along shortly to empty it, but in the meantime, please take your rubbish home with you.

Our Local Economy
If you are a business owner with staff onsite, you must have a COVIDSafe plan that includes registering details of staff, customers and visitors.
As Whitehorse begins to reopen, we want to make it as easy as possible for businesses to welcome the community safely back to the cafes and restaurants. We’ve created free, fast-tracked Outdoor Trading Permits that provide hospitality venues with more options to trade safely.
Limits on hospitality venues have increased. As we're entering the festive season, let's support our local traders and shopping precincts as they reopen, especially those in retail and hospitality - some of which are expanding into more outdoor dining. More than ever, Whitehorse businesses are relying on the community to Think Local Buy Local.
What hasn’t changed?
Stay safe, so we can stay open. If you can work from home, you must continue to work from home. Keep wearing a mask, maintaining your distance – and if you experience even mild symptoms, get tested.

Survey: Container Deposit Scheme
The Victorian Government is encouraging all Victorians to have their say on how a state-wide Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) would work best to improve our recycling system and reduce litter pollution in our environment. The proposed model will be rolled out by 2023 and create hundreds of jobs across the state. Have your say!
