Whitehorse Council is seeking feedback from sporting reserve user groups and the wider community to inform the development of a floodlighting policy.
The policy will apply to lit sports fields, public outdoor courts and skate parks across Whitehorse currently being used for formal and informal sport and recreation activities.
Whitehorse Mayor, Councillor Bill Bennett encouraged people to have their say.
“Council is seeking feedback from users, sporting associations and the wider community to help develop the floodlighting policy,” Cr Bennett said.
“With the growth in participation, Council is receiving more requests for night competitions, so we need to ensure the lighting meets the needs of users.
“We also acknowledge that most sporting reserves are located close to residential areas so we also need to consider the local amenity while providing suitable facilities.”
