Mont Albert Station building and Plaza Design

Published: Wednesday 18 Aug 2021

We welcome the revised design of the Level Crossing Removal project at Union Road, Surrey Hills and Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert.

The updated design including a plaza that connects Hamilton Street Village with Beresford Street is a significant improvement on the standalone footbridge previously proposed. We are pleased to hear the heritage Mont Albert Station building will be able reinstalled close to its current location. These design improvements are clearly in response to persistent, dedicated advocacy efforts of residents and local groups, and reinforced by Council. Local advocates are to be congratulated!

Council awaits some more details for the design.

We continue to engage with our community via meetings and surveys to provide input into the project. We invite our community to contribute to creating the vision for the precinct. We will continue to advocate for a design that enhances the amenity of the area, ensures access to public transport and provides for a vibrant local precinct. We will continue this close engagement and advocacy throughout the project.
