Spring Festival
Council’s Spring Festival is a free, fun-filled day that celebrates Whitehorse’s wonderful community. The festival welcomes in the warmer weather with a fantastic line up of live music, community performances, amusements, children’s entertainment, craft and community stalls.
This year's event will be held on Sunday 21 October from 10am-4pm on the lawns of the Whitehorse Civic Centre in Nunawading.
The festival will have a 1950s Tropicana theme and will feature rides and amusements such as sandpits, the Surf Rider, Shark Slide, Pirate Ship Ride and hula hooping. Music acts will include surf bands, ukuleles and tributes to Carmen Miranda and Elvis Presley. Performances will take place across four stages, including the popular ‘Spring Chickens’ youth performers’ stage.
The festival will also feature food stalls serving a range of cuisines, craft demonstrations, and community and Council displays.
Seeking Community Involvement for 2012
Council is seeking expressions of interest from emerging performers, community groups, social groups and service organisations to take part in this very popular annual event.
More than 10,000 people attend the Spring Festival each year, providing a fabulous opportunity for local community groups to share and showcase their talents. Groups can fundraise, increase membership numbers and raise awareness about the great services they provide the community.
Council is proud to support local community groups and non-profit organisations through this annual community event.
Expressions of interest from community groups and performers are due by Monday 9 July 2012. Expression of interest applicants will be notified of outcomes as soon as possible and no later than 27 July. Draft programs will be sent out in August.
