Action from Whitehorse's 2023 Battle Of The Bands

Whitehorse News - October 2023

Following on from the All Ages Tour concert in May, Whitehorse’s FreeZa group Flying Pig Events held another successful event, the Whitehorse Battle of the Bands contest on 16 September.

Eight local acts competed at Box Hill TAFE in the annual competition, cheered on by a crowd of more than 150 fans. Indie band Von Uan won a door prize for bringing the most supporters.

Volt Jolt was voted by the judges as the winner of this year’s contest and awarded the first prize of studio time at Burwood’s Bradshaw Music Productions, which they can possibly use to record songs.

Mongeese won second prize of practice time at Burwood’s Hydra Rehearsal Studios, while third prize of $200 was awarded to Offswitch.

The Flying Pigs Events team would like to thank all the acts who took part in this year’s contest and the fans who created a great atmosphere on the night.

You can meet the Flying Pigs Events team, find out more about what they do, and enjoy the sounds of more local bands at the Youth Stage during Spring Festival on 15 October.

The team has also started recruitment for 2024 – if you would like to be part of the team, contact Jac for more information at jacqueline.piper@whitehorse.vic.gov.au or call 0408 356 997. To keep up to date on more youth music events in Whitehorse follow us at @youtheventswhitehorse on Instagram.
