Planning Your Event
The City of Whitehorse welcomes events of all sizes, from small gatherings to festivals, markets, performances and community celebrations.
We want planning an event in Whitehorse to be clear and easy. Our Events Framework ( PDF 11.91MB) helps event organisers understand what may be needed before an event can go ahead. This may include booking a venue, applying for an Event Permit, notifying Council or checking if other approvals are required.
This page is the first step in planning your event. Choose the option that best matches your activity for advice on what you may need to do next. You can also find planning tools, venue information and resources to help you prepare your event.
Choose the option that best matches your activity
Each option provides advice for that type of event or gathering, including permits, bookings, notifications and other approvals.
Before you plan your event
Apply early
Some events need time for Council to assess the location, activities and possible impacts.
If your event needs an Event Permit, you may need to apply at least 4, 6 or 8 weeks before your event, depending on the size and impact of the event.
Check what approvals you need
Some events may need more than one approval. This can include approvals for road closures, food vendors, temporary structures, liquor, fireworks, music, drones or public safety.
Check what approvals may apply before you confirm your event plans.
