One of the great privileges of being a councillor – and especially Mayor – is getting a first-hand insight into the services available to our community and meeting those involved on the front line.

Last month, I visited the Whitehorse Meals On Wheels base at the Nunawading Community Hub to assist with a delivery run to a number of our residents. I joined volunteer Craig to help deliver meals and meet some of the hundreds of clients who use this service.

It was fantastic to surprise the residents and learn how grateful they are for the service. The Whitehorse Meals on Wheels service is run by service provider Newcastle Meals on Wheels, and it would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who drive and deliver meals to residents who need it most. Many of our stops were across Nunawading, Blackburn and Forest Hill.
