Whitehorse City Council (Council) collects, holds, and manages personal information under two acts. These are the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) (“PDP Act”) and the Health Records Act (Vic) 2001 (“HR Act”).

Information collected enables Council to communicate future information on chosen topics.

You can unsubscribe at any time. To deliver future communications, Council utilises Mailchimp as an email distribution tool. 

MailChimp is an online communication delivery tool selected by Council. It allows information on various topics of interest to you to be delivered directly from Council. If you wish to receive Council’s newsletters and information using MailChimp, users must first subscribe to categories of interest via an online subscriber form or via email request to Council.

Information submitted using MailChimp will be accessed by Council officers and MailChimp. The intended recipients of the information are Council Officers, Council’s authorised contractors and consultants. Your email address may be accessed by Council staff or by MailChimp staff, but only to the extent necessary to provide services to you and to exclude you from future sign-up alerts. Council and its authorised officers will access the information submitted via the platform. This will enable the delivery of relevant Council services and information.

This will only be to the extent necessary to provide services and information to you Council will not otherwise use or disclose your personal information unless it is required or authorised by law to do so.

To assist with the storage of the information MailChimp uses a data centre, which is located in the United States. 

If you wish to access and correct your personal information provided when setting up an account and held by MailChimp, you can access your details through the ‘update your preferences’ or ‘unsubscribe to this list’ option in all electronic communications sent via MailChimp or by emailing the Customer Service Centre.
