Emergencies can be medical or family violence, natural disasters (such as floods, bushfires or heatwaves), communicable diseases (such as pandemic influenza) or a chemical, biological and radioactive emergency.
In Victoria, the emergency services work together when there is a major emergency and they also work with Councils, government departments and community organisations to provide the help and support needed by people affected by the emergency.
