We are incredibly proud to celebrate Chris, who has been named the Victorian School Crossing Supervisor of the Year for 2025–26.
For the past 5 and a half years, Chris has been the friendly face welcoming students and families outside St James' Primary School in Vermont. But as the school's heartfelt nomination says, Chris's role goes far beyond helping children cross the road.
"Kids look forward to seeing her and often stop for a quick chat. She makes each child feel seen, valued and important. For many children, Chris is like the Nana they don't have, kind, caring and always looking out for them."
Rain, hail or shine, Chris greets everyone with a smile, celebrates students' achievements, asks about their day, and brings warmth and kindness to every morning and afternoon. She has become a treasured part of the St James' school community, building genuine relationships with students, families and staff alike.
Congratulations also to Frank, who was recognised as a state finalist. Having 2 Whitehorse School Crossing Supervisors acknowledged at this level is a wonderful reflection of the care and dedication shown by our entire team.
Congratulations, Chris, on this well-deserved honour, and thank you to all of our school crossing supervisors who work tirelessly every day to keep our children safe. We are so grateful for everything you do.
