Why is Council offering this discount?
On average, a child will use 6,000 disposable nappies before they are toilet trained. Similarly, a person can expect to use approximately 10,000 period products in their lifetime. These end up in landfill and take hundreds of years to decompose.
We want to help our community reduce waste to landfill by switching to reusables. We are partnering with Greener Everyday to offer this subsidy to help with the initial costs of cloth nappies and reusable period products.
How much is the subsidy?
Until the trial program budget is exhausted, residents can claim:
- Up to $100 per household for cloth nappies and accessories (such as wet bags and reusable wipes), with a maximum of 50% off the total order.
- Up to $50 per household for reusable period products (including menstrual cups, period underwear and cloth pads), with a maximum of 50% off the total order.
