We will be resurfacing Springfield Road between Pottery Drive and Surrey Road, as part of Council’s annual road maintenance program.
When will works take place?
The works will be delivered in stages with the patching works scheduled to begin on Wednesday 15 April 2026 and are expected to take up to 3 days.
Contractors will return to site to lay the new asphalt surface over the following 2 Saturdays (Saturday 18 April 2026 and Saturday 2 May 2026). Working hours will generally be 7.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday.
Please note that the dates above may change if the weather conditions are poor. Any changes will be communicated in advance. Electronic message signs will be on display to notify road users.
To reduce disruption, works will be completed in 2 stages:
- Section 1: Pottery Drive to Williams Road – Wednesday 15 April and Saturday 2 May 2026
- Section 2: Williams Road to Surrey Road -Thursday 16 & Friday 17 April and Saturday 18 April 2026
What works are being carried out

Removing sections of the existing road surface where needed

Repairing damaged areas of the road

Laying a new asphalt surface

Traffic management during works, including road closures or detours if required

Repainting line markings after works are complete (usually at night)
Parking restrictions
Parking will not be permitted on the section of Springfield Road being resurfaced between 7.30am and 5.00pm.
Traffic and access changes
- Springfield Road will be closed to through traffic during working hours, 7.30am to 5.00pm, between Middleborough Road and Surrey Road. Local access will be maintained, but short delays are expected.
- Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist and minimise wait times.
- Access to North Blackburn Shopping Centre via Willams Road
- If you need to use your vehicle during the day, please park outside the active work area.
Public transport and bin collection
- Bus services will continue to operate as usual.
- Bin collection will take place on your usual day, although collection times may vary.
- If any changes are required, residents will be notified in advance.
