Nunawading Megamile & Mitcham Structure Plan

Nunawading has been designated as a ‘Major Activity Centre’ and Mitcham a ‘Neighbourhood Activity Centre’ under the State Government’s metropolitan strategy Plan Melbourne 2017-2050.

The study area for the structure plan for both activity centres and the eastern part of the MegaMile encompasses an area generally bordered by Varman Court (in the west), the Civic Centre (to the north), Cochrane Street (to the east) and the Melbourne Water Pipe Track to the south.

At its meeting on 21 April 2008, Council adopted the Nunawading/MegaMile Major Activity Centre and Mitcham Neighbourhood Activity Centre Structure Plan. The structure plan was finalised after review of community feedback ( PDF 326.6KB) received during the display of the Draft Plan in October 2006.

Mitcham Station Precinct

The Mitcham Station Precinct Built Form and Public Realm Guidelines ( PDF 4.63MB)(the Guidelines) identify ways to improve the Mitcham Station Precinct to complement separation of the road and rail crossing completed in 2014. The Guidelines are intended to work together with Council’s existing Nunawading Megamile Major Activity Centre and Mitcham Neighbourhood Activity Centre Structure Plan ( PDF 411.63KB), which was prepared prior to plans to separate the road and rail crossing.
