Students from Orchard Grove Primary School recently rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at the adjacent Wurundjeri Walk, making a positive contribution to their local environment
The students collected litter, planted and watered a variety of native plants, and enjoyed the native birds watching them from nearby trees as they worked. Along the way, they made valuable observations about the area's biodiversity and learned how the native vegetation that they were planting supports local wildlife.
They recognised that removing litter helps keep habitats safe, while planting native vegetation provides food, shelter and nesting opportunities for local wildlife.
The experience highlighted how small actions can make a big difference. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment to conservation demonstrate how young people can play an important role in creating clean and green spaces for all to enjoy.
