Councillor update from Cr Jarrod Gunn
Another winter season ends across the city and we prepare for our summer sports and Council’s events season to recommence. First up will be Spring Fest!
This summer season will see East Burwood Cricket Club operate out of new multisport nets. Having grown to 5 teams along with a junior development program, this addition will be most welcome and is being delivered alongside the pavilion renewal. The best part is these nets will also support netball and other uses throughout the year. The pavilion renewal project itself continues with delivery expected around May 2027.
After the highly successful Terrara Park lighting project, recently described by a resident as ‘feeling like a total rock star’ when they automatically come on as you are first to enter the field, attention now turns to Billabong Park. Lighting renewal at Billabong Park should be due for completion around the end of October after delays due to heavy rain. On demand lighting allows residents to be more active, more often. The LED globes are cheaper and better for the environment too!
Speaking of Billabong Park – there is a new tenant sport now being played out of this ground called Kho Kho! The inaugural launch of the city’s first Kho Kho club will take place during this newsletter’s publication. I urge you to Google/YouTube Kho Kho to see what it’s all about!
