I’m pleased to be part of the Councillor group which has worked diligently to present the Whitehorse Budget and Council Plan for Community Consideration and look forward to hearing your views. I’ve also been reviewing Council’s proposed plans for the Bennettswood North Oval, and look forward to sharing these for your views soon. I’ve listened and seen your feedback to Council in relation to planning changes for the Burwood Surburban Rail Loop Station precinct, and will actively represent your views to State Government. Please stay connected through Council meetings or reach out to me so we can bring positive change to the city. 0407 652 145

In April, we celebrated important events in Easter and ANZAC Day. Thank you to Whitehorse RSLs for ensuring that we don’t forget! I'm looking forward to seeing the Sparks Reserve upgrade. Council has been advocating for federal funding and I'm thrilled we've received bipartisan commitments of $3.9 million for the project. I want to encourage residents to attend our local markets. They are a great asset to the community. As we finalise the upcoming budget, I encourage everyone to share their thoughts and feedback. Community input really does make a difference. If I can assist in any way, feel free to contact me via email, phone, or Facebook @crkieransimpson 0431 486 849

Residents heard! Requested parking changes on Holland Rd and at Ballyshanassy Park are underway, with contentious school drop-off practices under review. Road crossing improvements at Burwood Brickworks are being planned thanks to John Flynn residents’ feedback. We’re also re-exploring Eley Rd Retarding Basin’s open space potential with Melbourne Water. Most importantly, our $240 million annual budget is scheduled for community consultation 30 April to 13 May – have your say! A personal recent highlight was speaking to enthusiastic Year 4 students at Orchard Grove Primary about local government, answering politically-tricky questions like “Are any councillors mean?”, and “Who’s your footy team?” 0431 486 455

It is delightful to see the new solar park lights in Bushy Creek have increased the use of the path. Giving all ages and abilities greater freedom to exercise in the darker months was a community priority and I’m proud we’ve delivered in time for the darker months. I am satisfied that Council’s draft budget projects only a small rate increase. Sadly, the State Government’s proposed Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF) replaces the Fire Services Levy on your rates bill, contains a real sting for locals already feeling cost of living pressures, with the costs increasing on average by $90 that will appear on your rates. 0459 857 280
