Microchipping Dogs and Cats

Microchipping ensures lifetime identification of your pets and is compulsory for all pets being registered for the first time. It is also a requirement to microchip all cats and dogs when they are sold or given away from commercial breeders and pounds or shelters.

While Council will collect and store your pet's microchip details if they are known, we will not update your pet's microchip details in microchip registers. If you or your pet moves home, you should update your pet's microchip register so that if your pet is lost, you can be quickly reunited. Visit Pet Address to keep your pet's microchip details up to date.
