Rakali (Australia’s native water-rat) are semi-aquatic mammals and are our largest rodent species. The rakali is affectionally known as ‘Australia’s otter’ and have an identifiable, white-tipped tail, water-repellent fur, and a yellow belly.

Rakali are nighttime hunters. They eat small fish, molluscs, crustaceans and water bugs. The rakali’s home depends on clean, healthy waterways with plenty of vegetation for shelter.

• Picking up extra litter if you see it.
